The Howard Centre is a shopping centre in Welwyn Garden City. It is named after Sir Ebenezer Howard, founder of the Garden City movement. It was built by Tarmac Construction and opened in October 1990. It provides 240,000 sq ft (22,000 m2). of space on two levels: anchor tenants include Marks & Spencer, Boots, W H Smith, Next and Monsoon.
The centre has direct access to Welwyn Garden City railway station, with a ticket office in the centre itself, and is adjacent to the town's bus station. It is complemented by the much older John Lewis store which is outside the centre but within a few minutes walk.
